Pune Metro Rail Project - Historical Perspective
When the Union Cabinet approved the project on December, 2001, the first step towards realizing the dream of Pune Metro was taken and soon after, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the project at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Project
The project, to be constructed by Maha-Metro, has two corridors (North-South Corridor and East-West Corridor) and its length is .6 33..6 K K km. There are 2 km.1 km high and the remaining 4.450 km are underground.
Corridor 1 (North-South) Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate is
1..90 0 4 km long and has 14 stations (elevated and underground) while
Vanaz to Ramwadi to Corridor 2 (East-West) 1.74741 Km long and has 1 elevated station.
The Civil Court Station provides an interchange between the two
corridors. The project has two modern metro coach maintenance depots, Vanaj and
Range Hill
Pune's state-of-the-art, comfortable, affordable,
comprehensive and durable metro rail will have an operating speed of 0 km per
hour (fast design speed k 0 km per hour), an ultra-modern communication based
train control system using the Excel counter system to find secondary trains
for backup signaling. Arrange so that it can run the designed main route. The the automated fare collection system is a combo-based on smart cards and
computerized paper tickets.
Priority section - Chugging along to open at the end of the
year
The Maha-Metro team is committed to complete the Pune Metro
project in a timely and cost-effective manner. The assurance was given by the Prime
Minister Shri Narendra Modi earlier this year added to the adrenal of the
Sangh, a part of the Pune Metro Railway will be thrown in the open by the
people of Pune by the end of the year, he said in a public meeting.
Taking note of the Prime Minister's decision, the Maha-Metro the team carried out a vigorous inspection and a 7 km stretch between PCMC and
Dapodi at the end of the year. Decided the priority department of distance.
This section will start from the rear of PCMC station and end at Dapodi
station. The first two stations will be Sant Tukaram and Dapodi. Other stations
init will open progressively
To be satisfied, the Maha-Metro squad has set up another five
km priority section from Wanaj to Garware College which will start for passenger
operations soon after the PCMC-Dapodi section opens.
Pune Metro Map
Make in Dream for the last two decades
But the attempt of Pune Metro did not come during the day.
This work has been going on for two decades. In 2001, Messrs.
Rights, in a report initiated by the Pune Municipal Corporation, first set up
an MRTS network (22.4646 km) along the corridor of the Agricultural College at
Shivaji Nagar. Lines 1 and 2 will be included by 2006-2006. The length of
Phase-II and Phase-III corridors of the network is 68.32322 km. Is long, in
which line,,,, and 20 have been started till the year 20226.
Action on the recommendations of Messrs. Ritz has not yet
begun, and various other options within the city, such as -
(A) Konkan
Railway Corporation Limited - KRCL had recommended the construction of two
corridors of Sky Bus System in 2003. But the project has not seen the light of
day.
(B) The preparation of DPR for the tramway system
in Pune by the German city of Bremen (sister city of Pune) after the accident
related to the proto-experimental experimental system built at Goa was another
wrong start. The project has not been implemented.
(C) In March
200, based on the master plan of Bus Rapid Transit System developed by CIRT,
the city set up a massive Bus Rapid Transit System with 22 Corridor Cycle
Network and Riverside BRTS Road. The network can only be completed on a few
corridors and except for two corridors, it could not be an optimal solution.
The latest inspiration for the metro rail project
The journey of the Pune Metro Railway literally began with a
meeting between the city planning legislators (MLAs) in June and September 200
in two municipal corporations, resulting in the DMRC being asked to prepare a
project DPR in the 200. The DPR report was submitted in 200 in. Project
approved by DMRC and State Government on September 2, 2010. The Central The government gave its in-principle approval on 11 February 201. However, even
after the central government approved the project in principle by the state
government, it was further delayed as the Pune Metro rail project, like any
major city infrastructure, went through intense stakeholder scrutiny. The
roadblocks facing this project include the argument for the existence of a
metro rail in the city, the suitability of the chosen alignment, and the
scientific binary discussion of an “underground versus advanced” metro rail.
Meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.
In order to solve these problems and remove road barriers, a the meeting was held in March 2015 under the chairmanship of Hon'ble Chief Minister
of Maharashtra in which Threadbare discussed all the issues. The meeting was
attended by prominent political figures including Shri Sharad Pawar; City
lawmakers (MPs, MLAs, and municipal representatives); Managing Director of DMRC; The representative of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India; Pune
and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioners; Prominent citizens (including Mr.
Vijay Kelkar, Arun Firodia, and Mr. S. D. Limaye). These problems and obstacles were
removed on the recommendation of the committee set up by the Chief Minister on
March, 201. Subsequently, the project DPR was revised in 201D and final
approval was given to the project in December 2001.
As the project took off
When the Metro Rail project was first started till 201 By,
the population of Pune was 5.5 million as compared to 2001. The city has become
a thriving metropolis and an important industrial, educational, and information
technology hub in the country. But so far, Pune has also become a city where
urban traffic barriers have increased a lot, with more than 80% of two-wheeler
traffic, where the share of public transport has been reduced, and finally
where peak-hours are. Horse-drawn carriage speed (8 to 10 km per hour).
But it's all set to change:
The people of Pune have patiently waited for two decades for
a fast, comfortable, safe, secure, and inclusive environment-friendly
sustainable metro rail passenger crisis. Maha-Metro is committed to delivering
exactly what the city needs and deserves. Starting a priority area in the next
few months is just the beginning. The Maha-Metro team is fully prepared to
complete the entire advanced section by the end of 2012 and the completed
project by 2022.
An integrated fare system has also been devised to facilitate
seamless transfers, however, the exact fare for the same journey may vary
depending on the operator. MI CARD (Marathi: मी कार्ड), a smart card currently
used in bus and BRTS services operated by PMPML, will be used as a general
mobility card on metro services as well as parking facilities.
